Maurice’s long photography career and association with Cameras for Healing has taken him all over the world. Through his efforts, he has helped numerous people learn to better themselves through photography in countries such as Sierra Leone, Haiti and Colombia. Maurice’s passion for teaching is endless. Over the past twenty years, Maurice has lectured at various organizations and institutions including Artquest Photographic Workshops (Peru, Alaska, Holland, USA, Canada, Colombia, Namibia), The Namaqualand Photographic Workshops (South Africa), Community College of New Brunswick, The Professional Photographers of Canada, Holland College and numerous Camera Clubs and Corporate Conferences throughout North America.
He is a truly inspiring speaker and humanitarian. Maurice’s mission is to bring together the hearts and minds of people viewing his work and for them to seek knowledge, values, self-affirmation and understanding.
Maurice’s approach to street photography is the same, no matter what country he is in – He aims to capture the life and culture of everyday people in search for what Henri Cartier-Bresson, probably the most famous street photographer of all, termed the ‘Decisive Moment’.
“My images are about my passions: the people, places and the paths that touch my soul. I enjoy portraiture, abstract and architecture as well as everything that captures my eye – and all these elements can be combined in a good street photograph. I strive to unite mood, emotion and light, believing that these elements must fuse together in order to convey the meaning of the photo”.
Maurice will be presenting a slideshow of his worldwide street photography plus he will share some of his techniques that enable him to capture the “Decisive Moment”. This is one event you don’t want to miss.
