In 1994 Duane started chasing his dream and passion of being a stuntman for film. The dream was eventually reached, however along the way the passion had changed.
While working on his stunt qualifications, Duane started training exotic animals for film and found that the unique challenge of training, working and coordinating animal scenes was more exciting and difficult than being a stuntman. Through his time on set he watched the camera department operate and really fell in love with their work. The idea of being behind the camera was alluring, but Duane knew that joining the camera department would be a long and slow ladder to climb; something that he wasn’t able to commit to at that stage of life.
Instead he turned to photography as a hobby. This opened a door to work part time at a camera retail store for a few years where he gained invaluable experience with multiple brands of cameras as well as found a new passion – teaching and training people about camera equipment, video and photography.
In 2012 Duane was an early adopter to a new crazy idea – cameras on drones. The early investment and company growth opened doors for him including an invitation into the International Cinematographers Guild IATSE 669. In 2015 Duane translated his experience in cameras, film, drones and steadicams into a job with Revered Cinema (rvrd.com) as one of their principal employees. Revered specializes in highend drones, remote heads, Movi’s, and other cutting edge film industry equipment. This equipment was used to film many Netflix series (Dirk Gently, Riverdale, Travelers, +more) feature films (Power Rangers, Predator, Overboard) and commercials (Lexus, GMC, McDonalds, etc.).
When not working Duane cherishes his time with his loving wife and four endearing children (ages 10, 8, 6, 2).
